A nature-themed playground for Salt Lake County's Big Cottonwood Regional Park in Holladay, built around Playworld Skytowers, custom wildlife sculptures, and accessible play for every kid in the neighborhood.
Big T Recreation partnered with Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation to bring a nature-themed playground to Big Cottonwood Regional Park in Holladay. The design draws on the park's own landscape — custom sculptures of the birds, animals, and flowers native to the area sit alongside the play equipment, so kids explore a story about their own backyard, not just a generic play structure.
The playground centers on a Playworld Skytowers system, paired with Play Hills and the Mighty Descent slide for a range of climbing and sliding challenges. A Cozy Cocoon gives kids a quieter spot to retreat to, and log piles from Earth Scape Designs add natural balance and climbing elements throughout the space. A nature-themed scavenger hunt turns a walk through the playground into its own activity.
Accessible swings and engineered wood fiber surfacing keep the space welcoming for families of every ability. The playground sits in the park's Holladay Lions area, near the Mt. Olympus Senior Center and Holladay Lions Recreation Center — a natural gathering spot for the neighborhood.
