Unity Playground

Big T Recreation was honored to partner with the City of Draper to design and build Unity Playground—an extraordinary, fully inclusive playground that embraces the idea that every child deserves to play. This landmark project was developed with a clear vision: to create a recreational space where children of all physical, sensory, and developmental abilities could play together in a shared environment without limitations.

Located within Draper’s Ballard Arena complex, Unity Playground features a carefully curated mix of inclusive Playworld playground equipment, ensuring children can climb, slide, spin, and engage in imaginative play regardless of ability level. Every element was chosen to encourage cooperative and social play, while still allowing for independent exploration and discovery.

The surfacing is fully ADA-compliant, featuring poured-in-place rubber that provides both safety and accessibility for children using mobility devices. Wide ramps, transfer stations, and ground-level play features make sure that children with disabilities can participate in every aspect of play—without barriers.

Unity Playground also includes sensory play elements designed for children with autism or sensory processing needs, offering calming experiences through tactile panels, visual stimulation, and interactive features. These areas promote emotional regulation and inclusive engagement, making the playground a safe and welcoming place for children of all neurological profiles.

To ensure comfort and accessibility for families, Big T Recreation installed site furnishings such as accessible picnic tables, benches, and trash receptacles, as well as custom shade structures that provide critical UV protection throughout the day.

Unity Playground is more than just a playground—it's a community space where inclusion is the norm and every child is valued.
